EBSCOHost research databases

Tips and tricks for searching two EBSCOHost research databases: Sociology Source Ultimate and the Nonprofit Organization Reference Center.

E-mail notifications

You can set up your searches to provide automatic e-mail notifications when new results become available in the EBSCOHost research databases. Simply click the "Create Alert" button beside the search bar. You can do this instead of or after conducting a search.

Note that in order to make use of e-mail alerts, you must have an individual account on EBSCO. Setting up an account is free and easy, and you will be prompted to do so when you first attempt to create an alert:

After clicking on the "Sign In" link, you will be taken to a new page where you can set up your personalized account and choose your own password. Having an account will also give you access to additional functionality, such as the ability to save articles to folders. For more information on making use of folders, see here.

Setting up alerts

Alerts are based on the search parameters you set while constructing your query. Before creating an alert it's therefore a good idea to double-check that you've selected the appropriate expanders and limiters from the Advanced Search menu.

For example, if you only want to be notified for research you have full access to, be sure to limit your results to full text only.
